Tabla Classes in Switzerland

New, our tabla classes are now offered on a regular basis at a central location in downtown Zürich at: Bleicherweg 45, 8002 Zürich! (google map)  

Tabla, on the one hand is embedded in a long musical tradition of North India, at the same time though it is a very modern instrument very widely used in contemporary modern music. Tabla is integral part in north indian music, but more and more musicians are using it also in other forms of music like fusion, jazz, world music etc.

Tabla classes are conducted in Zürich on an individual basis depending on the level of skills of the student.

The aim is to help students learn traditional as well as modern tabla. In order to accomplish this following topics are dealt with in various sequences:

  • Sound production or "Nikas" : Sound is the soul of Tabla. Sound production is given highest priority while playing Tabla, and is the one of the most important aspects while teaching tabla
  • Tabla language: We help you develop a solid understanding of "Tabla language" which helps you understand the nuances of sound production
  • Rythmic patterns: Understanding the rythm patterns in general, their scope and application in the field of tabla playing
  • Improvisation: After a thorough introduction to the above mentioned topics you can start with basic improvisations keeping in mind sound and rythm esthetics and without offending the "Tabla language"
  • Compositions: You will also learn traditional compositions which help you further master all the above mentioned apspects of tabla playing

Fees: CHF 25:- per lesson on an pay as you attend basis. A lesson goes on for about  45 mins. (No advance payments necessary).

Note: No one will be turned away for lack of funds

 


 

Music
